Federal law and guidance on this subject should be reviewed together with this section.

- Mississippi does not have a law that prohibits employers from retaliating against employees for asserting their rights under another law. See Prohibition Against Retaliation for Discrimination Only Under Federal Law.
- Mississippi's Equal Pay Act includes antiretaliation protections. See Equal Pay Act Retaliation.
- Retaliatory conduct by an employer can give rise to a retaliation claim by employees under federal Title VII or a narrow public policy exception to Mississippi's employment-at-will doctrine. See Retaliation Under Mississippi's Exception to the Employment-At-Will Doctrine.
- Additional limited retaliation protection exists for public employees which makes it unlawful for public employers to retaliate against public employees who report improper governmental actions to a state investigative body. See Retaliation Protection for Public Employees.
