  • Mississippi law does address which methods of wage payment employers must use. See Wage Payment Methods.
  • Manufacturing employers must pay nonexempt employees every two weeks or twice a month. See Pay Frequency.
  • Mississippi law prohibits certain deductions from pay. See Permitted and Prohibited Wage Deductions.
  • Mississippi law does not require employers to provide employees with pay statements. See Pay Statement Requirements.
  • Except in certain cases involving termination of an oral or written contract with a sales representative for services to be rendered within the state on a commission basis, Mississippi has no special requirements regarding the timing of final paychecks. See Termination pay.
  • After the death of an employee, employers must pay any wages owed to the deceased employee to certain individuals in a certain order, See Deceased Employee Wages.
  • Unclaimed wages are considered abandoned property after five years. Every three years, employers must file a report of unclaimed wages and provide notification to affected employees that the wages will be reported to the state. Penalties are imposed for noncompliance. See Unclaimed Wages.
