Summary

  • Although Minnesota has no affirmative action requirements for private employers, the Minnesota Human Rights Act requires certain state government contractors to have affirmative action plans. See Required Affirmative Action Plans.
  • Minnesota state affirmative action plans must be updated internally on an annual basis and submitted to the Commissioner of Human Rights for approval every two years. See Approval of Plans.
  • Private employers may grant a hiring preference to veterans without running afoul of state law. See Veterans Preference.
