Summary

  • Mississippi law allows state agencies and other governing authorities to utilize discretion in setting aside no more than twenty-percent (20%) of state contracts to purchase commodities from minority owned businesses. See State Agency Set Asides for Minority Owned Businesses.
  • The Mississippi Development Authority has created the Office of Minority Business Enterprises, which seeks to develop, plan and implement programs to provide an opportunity for participation by qualified minority owned businesses in public works and the process by which goods and services are procured by state agencies and educational institutions from the private sector.
