Are there any consequences for using an outdated version of the Form I-9?

Yes. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services requires employers to use the most up-to-date version of the Form I-9. Employers could face civil penalties for not using the newest Form I-9. Beginning May 1, 2020, employers must use the Form I-9 with the date of Rev. 10/21/2019.
