Can an employer say it seeks "recent college graduates" in a job ad without running afoul of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)?

Employers should examine their intent in using such a phrase. If the intent is to discourage individuals within a protected age group from applying, the phrase would be considered discriminatory and should be avoided. If the intent is to hire individuals into an entry-level professional position, it would be better to avoid the phrase "recent college graduate" and instead use the phrase "entry level professional position."
