That depends on the nature and scope of the recruitment. If an employer's online recruitment activity is limited to accepting applications online, the risk may be minimal. However, it is recommended that the employer also have in place recruitment strategies that allow for a traditional hard-copy recruitment process, in order not to adversely impact members of certain protected groups who may be less likely to use or have access to computers.
Risk increases as the employer extends its online recruitment presence to using social media.
