May an employer access an employee's emails once such emails have been deleted?
Author: Jessica Sussman
Yes. Employees can delete email from the inbox, but the email is never fully deleted from the server. Electronic and voice mail systems retain messages in memory even after such email are deleted. Although it appears that the emails are erased, the emails are often backed up on servers or other stored media, along with other important data from the computer system. Therefore, these emails may usually be accessed and reviewed by an employer.
