Sex is an individual's biological, physical or anatomical identity as male or female that is assigned at birth and relates mainly to physical attributes such as chromosomes, hormones, and external and internal anatomy. Gender is defined as the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities and attributes that a society or culture considers appropriate for males and females. It refers to how a person identifies and expresses himself or herself and the expectations of others.
