Will the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) give an employer advanced warning that it is coming for an inspection?

Not typically. OSHA says that advance notice will not given prior to an inspection except where:
- There is an imminent danger requiring notice;
- An inspection needs to be conducted after business hours or where special preparations are needed;
- It is necessary to insure the presence of individuals needed to aid in the inspection; or
- In other situations deemed appropriate by the Area Director.
