The deadline for filing EEO-1 Reports for 2018 has been extended from March 31 to May 31.

Due to a lapse in appropriations caused by the recent partial government shutdown, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced it would extend the filing deadline and also postpone the start for submitting EEO-1 Reports until "early March 2019."

Details and instructions for the 2018 EEO-1 report filers will be forthcoming. Employers that are required to file an EEO-1 report - generally, private employers with 100 or more employees and most federal contractors with 50 or more employees - should visit the EEO-1 website in the coming weeks for schedule updates.

The EEO-1 (formally known as the Employer Information Report) is a compliance survey required by federal regulations, which collects race, ethnicity and gender information in broad occupational categories.
