USCIS Releases Employee Rights Toolkit on E-Verify and Immigration

Author: Melissa A. Silver, XpertHR Legal Editor

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the release of an Employee Rights Toolkit, which is located on its website. The toolkit educates employees regarding E-Verify and immigration laws.

The information is presented through videos, audios, brochures, flyers, posters, and a handout about the Self Check program, which allows individuals to confirm that the records E-Verify checks are accurate. Many of these materials are in English and Spanish.

The fact that the USCIS is arming employees with this information should provide a further warning to employers to comply with immigration laws and E-Verify requirements.

Therefore, employers should also explore the information provided in the toolkit to ensure that they are in compliance and that they are not violating employee rights.
