Key COVID-19 Challenges Facing Employers Post-Reopening

Wednesday, July 15

Businesses have reopened across the country after months of being shuttered or with employees working remotely. But now that some employees are back in the physical workplace while others are continuing in likely their fifth month of unexpected remote work, the return-to-work issues facing employers are multiplying.

Employees continue to have concerns about their safety and deal with family obligations, and businesses face ongoing economic challenges in creating safe workplaces not to mention facing ongoing economic hurdles.

In this live 45-minute webinar, XpertHR Legal Editor David Weisenfeld, JD, will discuss:

  • How to respond to employees' continuing concerns about returning to the workplace;
  • Back to school and related care issues;
  • How to address nonadherence to safety protocols in the workplace; and
  • Updates to OSHA and EEOC guidance

What We've Learned During the COVID-19 Crisis About Teleworking Employees

Wednesday, August 12

The COVID-19 pandemic forced employers to take a crash course in the world of teleworking. Teleworking has been a boon for many employers, resulting in more flexibility for employees, lower real estate costs, and the Zoom cocktail party. But there are a number of legal issues associated with teleworking about which employers should be aware – and may not have had a chance to learn in the short time that we went from normal work to nearly universal remote work.

In this engaging webinar, Robin Shea, a partner with the management-side employment law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP, will review what employers should have learned about the legal issues associated with telework. Robin will cover teleworking and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, data security, wage and hour considerations for both exempt and non-exempt employees, and teleworking as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (and for workers who are vulnerable to COVID-19 because of age, pregnancy, or other medical conditions).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Learn what the Families First Coronavirus Response Act says about teleworking;
  • Gain an understanding of what employers should be doing to keep their data secure when an employee works from home;
  • Review wage-hour issues associated with teleworking employees, and whether they differ if the employee is FLSA-exempt or non-exempt; and
  • Grasp when teleworking should be a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
