Karen Michael, founder of Karen Michael Consulting, is a workplace expert and employment lawyer, specializing in management and leadership training, workplace investigations, HR special projects and employment law advice.
Ms. Michael practiced law at McGuire Woods before serving as a first vice president for employee relations at SunTrust Bank.
She also taught at the University of Richmond's School of Continuing Studies for public and private sector students receiving their undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Through Karen Michael Consulting, Ms. Michael provides training around the country and is a regular presenter and sought after speaker on topics ranging from "Leading in the Legal Environment" to social networking to the FLSA, ADA and other legal and HR topics.
She has served on the boards of the Urban League of Greater Richmond, RichmondSHRM, Chesterfield Humane Society and Huguenot Little League.
Ms. Michael is a 2010 recipient of the Women of Legend award from the Urban League of Greater Richmond and has been featured in the Richmond Times Dispatch, CBS' Virginia This Morning, WRIC, WRVA and WorkIt Richmond.
She received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University and her law degree, with honors, from the University of Richmond's TC Williams School of Law.
