To help ensure that the minimum wage keeps pace with the rising cost of living, many states and localities adjust their minimum wage rates annually.
Increases in the minimum wage represent approximately 50% of all requirements that become effective July 1, 2019.
Beginning July 1, the minimum wage rate will increase in more than a dozen localities across the US, including the District of Columbia.In several of these localities, the increases are based on employer size. In California alone, more than 10 localities will see the minimum wage increase this summer. At the state level, New Jersey and Oregon will see increases to the minimum wage.
