Patrick M. Madden, a partner in the Seattle office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP, co-chairs the firm's global labor and employment practice and helps oversee its wage and hour class action task force.
Mr. Madden advises employers on employment issues, including wage compliance and compensation plan design; assists employers responding to agency investigations; and represents employers in state and federal courts.
He has successfully defended clients in scores of class, collective, and government enforcement actions, some involving claims for hundreds of thousands of employees and billions of dollars.
These actions include wage payment and break issues, entitlement to overtime and benefits, off-the-clock claims, challenges to exempt status, and claims to employee status.
Mr. Madden graduated, with highest honors, from the University of Washington School of Law and clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
He chaired the Association of Washington Business's employment law committee for nine years and is listed as a top labor and employment attorney in The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
