Much of Mr. Roberts' practice involves representation of institutions of higher education, and he provides regular counsel to colleges and universities regarding faculty and staff employment matters, student discipline and privacy, security, and compliance with anti-discrimination laws.
He has successfully defended university clients in lawsuits asserting claims of discrimination based on age, gender, race, and disability, defamation and violation of privacy rights.
Mr. Roberts also has served as an independent investigator of claims of sexual harassment and managed investigations regarding claims of alleged disability discrimination.
In addition, he handles business litigation for multiple corporate clients, including cases concerning the protection of intellectual assets, proprietary information, and trade secrets and the enforcement of noncompetition agreements.
Mr. Roberts is a frequent speaker on education and employment issues, including disability and discrimination law, the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act, bullying and social media.
He is a member of the National Association of College & University Attorneys and the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities in Massachusetts.
Mr. Roberts received his JD from Northeastern University and his BA, summa cum laude, from Tufts University.
