Nepotism Policy

When to Use
It is especially important for employers, especially at smaller businesses and nonprofit organizations, to enforce policies on nepotism and employment of relatives. Whether a employer is small or large, a Nepotism Policy will help to ensure that the employer is not charged with illegal employment discrimination practices. A written Nepotism Policy also puts employees on notice of what is permitted, and will prevent employees from claiming that the policy was a surprise.
This policy should be communicated to all job applicants before any hiring decisions are made, and then to employees upon beginning employment. If there is any question about hiring an individual who is related to another employee, all concerned individuals should refer to this policy.
