OSHA Inspection Checklist

Author: Leanne Coffman, The Safety Training Solution LLC

When to Use

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has the authority to inspect workplaces for safety and health violations and hazardous conditions. During this process, an OSHA inspector will assess any hazards found during an inspection and may cite an employer for noncompliance. While OSHA inspections are typically conducted without advance notice, employers should nonetheless understand the process and be prepared. Therefore, an employer should review the actions below in order to properly prepare for an OSHA inspection. Employers do not have to complete the following steps in sequential order to properly complete the checklist.
