When to Use

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires a covered employer to reasonably accommodate an otherwise qualified employee or applicant with a disability, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer's business. A covered employer under the ADA is one that employs 15 or more employees for each working day in each of 20 or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding year.

A covered employer should consider implementing this policy to show its commitment to ADA compliance. An accommodation policy may also assist supervisors, managers and HR professionals to appropriately manage accommodation requests.
