Respond to a Workers' Compensation Incident - Checklist

When employees suffer injuries in or around the workplace, HR professionals and employers at large have to respond. That response, however, can be the difference between a well-managed injury and recovery, culminating with a return-to-work, and a dispute with the employee resulting in a lawsuit.

This checklist can assist HR professionals who are tasked with coordinating a response to an employee injury, corresponding with legal counsel, insurance companies and any outside entities that may have oversight over the injury and the ensuing medical treatment and recovery.
