When to Use

Employers commonly provide employees with access to telephone and voicemail systems at work, as well as cell phones for business purposes. As useful as they are, they present employers with a number of potential issues. Employees can easily abuse such systems and devices for personal or otherwise inappropriate use. As a result, an employer should consider implementing a policy regarding appropriate phone usage and its right to monitor its communications devices and systems.
