Workplace Practices of Exempt and Nonexempt Employees

Sometimes employees who are classified as exempt from the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) need to be reclassified as nonexempt. Since the rules under which exempt and nonexempt employees work differ significantly, a newly reclassified employee and his or her manager will need to adjust certain workplace practices. In certain limited situations, however, the rules for a newly reclassified nonexempt will remain the same.
