California employers seeking to clearly establish the terms of vacation time, such as accrual rates, the extent to which vacation carries over from year to year and that vacation will be paid upon termination in compliance with California law, should consider including this model policy statement in their handbook.
New Mexico employers that elect to pay vacation upon termination should include this statement in their handbook to indicate that New Mexico employees will receive pay for accrued but unused vacation upon termination of employment.
