What are the penalties for not reporting new hires?

Most states, but not all, have penalties for not filing new hire reports. In the states that do have penalties, they vary from $14 to $25 for each new hire not reported and from $200 to $500 for conspiring to not report or falsify a report. These amounts can also vary by how often they can be given. For instance, some states allow penalties of $25 per month per employee not reported, whereas some only allow $25 per month if any new hire is not reported.
