This checklist should help employers create legally compliant job descriptions. In particular, it sets forth key questions to ask regarding essential job functions to help prevent disputes regarding disability, gender or age discrimination, among many others.
This does not preclude an employer from tailoring a description to fit a particular position. In fact, the more detail an employer adds to a job description and the more unique it is for the job or individual intended, the greater the protection against class action litigation.
