The measurement period is a period of time (selected by the employer) between three and 12 months during which an employee's hours of service are measured to determine if the employee is a full-time employee. Different terms are used to describe the measurement periods for different categories of employees:
- Standard measurement period is the measurement period applicable to ongoing employees.
- Initial measurement period is the measurement period applicable to new employees.
