Summary

  • The Virginia Human Rights Act (VHRA), as amended by the Virginia Values Act, provides a statutory right to file suit for retaliation. See Virginia Values Act.
  • The VHRA provides that an employer with five or more employees is prohibited from discriminating against employees and applicants based on pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, including lactation. See Pregnancy and Lactation Discrimination and Accommodations.
  • An employee may be able to bring suit against an employer for wrongful termination under certain circumstances. See Retaliation Claims.
