New York Paid Family Leave Benefits Duration and Rate Increase to 10 Weeks and 55%

Beginning January 1, 2019, employees are eligible to receive 10 weeks of paid family leave (PFL) benefits during any 52-week calendar period at 55% of their average weekly wage, up from eight weeks at 50%.

Employees who have worked at least 26 consecutive weeks are eligible for PFL benefits for:

  • Caring for a family member with a serious health condition;
  • Bonding with a newborn baby or a newly adopted or fostered child; or
  • A qualifying exigency related to a family member's active military service.

Beginning January 1, 2020, employees receive 10 weeks at 60%. Beginning January 1, 2021, employees receive 12 weeks at 67%.
