  • Public sector employees are covered under the Florida Public Employees Relations Act (PERA). See Public Sector Employees.
  • With the exception of the right to strike, public employees have the same rights of collective bargaining as private employees. See Public Sector Employees.
  • Employee organizations seeking to become a union must first register with the State of Florida and request permission from the employer, prior to seeking union certification. See Creation of Collective Bargaining Employment Unit.
  • The Florida Public Employee's Relations Commission (PERC) has the exclusive jurisdiction to hold hearings and resolves disputes regarding the composition of unions and unfair labor practices. See The Public Employees Relations Commission.
