Effective October 1, 2014, North Carolina cities and counties may not enter into a contract for public work with a private contractor unless the contractor and its subcontractors comply with the state's E-Verify requirements.

As a result of this development, the Immigration, Form I-9 and Work Visas: North Carolina section of the Employment Law Manual has been updated and a Legal Timetable entry has been added.
