When to Use

When making decisions relating to hiring, employee retention, promotion and reassignment, employers may want to consider the background of job applicants and employees. An employer also may have a valid reason to conduct a background check with respect to any independent contractors, vendors or other third parties who may be working with or interacting with employees. A background check policy notifies individuals that an employer may conduct a background check and will help ensure fairness and consistency.
