Connecticut's Minimum Wage to Increase to $9.00 by 2015

Connecticut's legislature on May 29 passed a bill that will raise the state's minimum wage from its current $8.25 to $8.70 in 2014 and then again to $9.00 in 2015. +2013 Bill Text CT S.B. 387, as amended.

In a statement, Governor Dannel P. Malloy said he would sign the bill into law.

Connecticut's minimum wage already is among the highest in the nation, and the planned increases will likely keep it there for years to come.

An earlier version of the legislation would have established annual minimum wage increases based on the rate of inflation, a formula that 10 other states have adopted. However, Malloy did not support such a provision and it was stripped away by an amendment.
