Georgia and Virginia Add Ban the Box Laws: Employment Law Manual, Quick Reference Chart Updated

Georgia and Virginia have become the first two southern states to enact "ban the box" laws to remove criminal history questions from state job applications. The measures are the result of executive orders issued by the states' governors. In all, 15 states have "ban the box" laws including six that apply to private employers.
The following state Employment Law Manual sections have been updated to reflect these developments:
- Interviewing and Selecting Job Candidates: Georgia;
- Interviewing and Selecting Job Candidates: Virginia;
- Preemployment Screening and Testing: Georgia;
- Preemployment Screening and Testing: Virginia.
