Our Mississippi Employment Law Coverage

XpertHR covers the complete spectrum of labor and employment law for Mississippi employers. For example, did you know:

  • Mississippi law authorizes state agencies and governing authorities to set aside up to twenty percent (20%) of its anticipated annual expenditures for the purchase of commodities from minority businesses.
  • Any employer who prevents lawful military leave may be subject to criminal liability, i.e. guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction thereof, will be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000.00 or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both.
  • Mississippi law declares that a strike, concerted work stoppage or concerted refusal to perform lawful duties in any manner by certified teachers against public school districts within the State of Mississippi is illegal, unprotected, and contrary to the public policy of the State of Mississippi.
  • Mississippi courts have made clear that private performance appraisals, even when negative, constitute opinion and thus normally are not restricted, so long as the appraisal is kept confidential.

This is but a taste of the depth and breadth provided to our Mississippi subscribers!
