Paid Sick Leave Laws Passed in Massachusetts; Trenton, New Jersey: Employment Law Manual, Chart Updated

On Election Day, residents of Massachusetts and Trenton, New Jersey, voted to enact paid sick leave laws. The Massachusetts state law takes effect July 1, 2015, while the Trenton ordinance takes effect in March 2015.

In light of these developments, the Paid Sick Leave Laws by State and Municipality chart has been updated, along with the following sections of the Employment Law Manual:

• Massachusetts: Other Leaves, FMLA, Employee Communications, Employee Discipline and New Hire Paperwork; and

• New Jersey: Other Leaves, FMLA, Employee Communications, Employee Discipline and New Hire Paperwork.
